Nothing Community Widgets is an official mobile app by Nothing, designed to bring creative, user-designed widgets to Nothing OS, complimenting Nothing’s first party widgets and celebrating community designers and developers. These community-contributed tools and games are packaged into a single downloadable app on the Google Play Store.
Released Widgets Snake Game Widget A tribute to the iconic Nokia Snake game, reimagined as a playable widget for Nothing OS.
Origin & Collaboration: The idea originated from community member Rahul Janardhanan, who shared a set of widget concepts in January 2024. Nothing’s developers selected the Snake idea for its nostalgia and feasibility. It was developed by community coder Thomas Legendre (RapidZapper) in collaboration with Nothing.*
Gameplay & Controls: Played directly on the home screen in a 2×2 widget, the snake is controlled via swipe gestures. A double tap pauses the game. Gameplay involves collecting red dots to increase score and snake length, while avoiding collisions with its own body.
Community Reception: The widget was well received by the community, with users calling it “nostalgic” and “fun”.* Users enjoyed sharing their high scores across social media, and there was even a Snake Game tournament in the Nothing Store Soho during the Phone (3a) Series drop, with prizes for those that topped the leaderboard.*
Fortunes Widget A lighthearted widget delivering daily fortunes, puns, riddles or sarcastic quips.
Origin & Collaboration: Designed by community member, flo_rahil, and supported in development by Thomas Legendre (RapidZapper), the Fortunes widget was released 4 July 2025. The fortune displayed updates every 24 hours and supports lock screen display, including Always On Display (AOD).*
User Experience: Tapping the widget generates a shareable card which can be saved or shared with others. Designed as a tool for reflections, journaling prompts or just a daily laugh, the content is currently available in English only.
Community Reception: As with the Snake Game, community reception was positive, with many users sharing their daily fortunes on various social platforms.*
Significance & Future Development The Community Widgets initiative reinforces Nothing’s ethos of user collaboration and creative inclusion, extending beyond traditional UI features.
Nothing plans to expand the widget lineup and encourages more designers to develop and submit ideas across social platforms.* However, there isn’t currently a formal submission process for ideas, designs or code contributions.*
